VPK and EC4 Class
Mary Rehm has been teaching at Our Lady of Lourdes School for 14 years. She spent the first 3 years as the assistant to the kindergarten teacher and for 10 years she has taught the EC4 class. Mary earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of South Florida. Mary also holds an Advanced Level Directors Credential with the Department of Children and Families. She has over 25 of years experience in her field. It is with great pride that Mary brought the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program to Our Lady of Lourdes School in 2008.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM
The curriculum for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School Early Childhood four year old program is based on nine separate categories.
They are as follows:
- FAITH FORMATION
- SAFE ENVIRONMENT CONCEPTS (AGES 3-5)
- PHYSICAL HEALTH
- APPROACHES TO LEARNING
- SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION
- EMERGENT LITERACY
- COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT AND GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
- MOTOR DEVELOPMENT
In each of the nine categories there are numerous skills and concepts. The skills and concepts are a compilation of the following resources for this specific age/developmental level:
- Diocesan Standards & Benchmarks for early childhood (Ages 3-Gr. 2)
- Florida Performance Standards (Revised 2006)
- Safe Environment Curriculum- Four Year Olds- Diocese of St. Petersburg
- Faith Development Discovering God’s world, Religion Series The full curriculum which includes each specific skill in all nine categories is available upon request.
