Middle School Science
Mrs. Hooey was born in San Antonio Texas but raised in Florida. She attended Catholic grammar school and high school in Ft. Pierce Florida. She earned a BS in education from the University of South Florida Tampa. Mrs. Hooey has taught middle school for the Diocese of St. Petersburg for 26 years with 16 of those years here at Our Lady of Lourdes. She holds a Florida certificate in biology and physical education.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE CURRICULUM
Middle school science curriculum covers Earth science in sixth grade. Earth science includes the study of Earth and space- the processes that shape the Earth. In seventh grade, Life science, which includes the study of life processes and the interactions of living things in their environment, is studied. Eighth grade covers physical science– the study of the nature of matter, energy, force and motion. The nature of science including scientific processes, problem solving, patterns of natural events, and the use of technology is covered throughout the middle school science curriculum.
