How can we help you afford a Catholic education for your children?

As our economy struggles to rebound from this difficult period in history, I want to inform you of the possible financial assistance for which your family may apply. Sometimes the process of obtaining this assistance can be difficult to understand, so I am providing this information in hopes of helping you to be aware of the options and procedures. Please follow the steps carefully and don’t hesitate to call Karen Carter in the front office if you have any questions.

Step 1: You must apply to www.factstuitionaid.com in order to be considered for any assistance. This must be done by March 1st. Several scholarship opportunities have April deadlines for completed applications. If you are also applying for help from the Diocese of St. Petersburg, they require this information as well. The only people who do not have to apply to this site are the families seeking the state offered Step‐Up‐For‐Students scholarships.

Step 2: Inform Mr. Fulford or Mrs. Carter through email regarding your intention to apply for assistance. Once you have submitted your information to www.factstuitionaid.com, a committee will review it and determine if you are eligible for outside assistance (Mary C. Forbes Scholarship, George and Mary Kremer Grant). They will also make recommendations for our in‐house assistance, including the Donoghue Scholarships and the Catholic Foundation Tuition Match Grant Program.

Step 3: Determine if you are eligible for assistance from the Diocese of St. Petersburg ‐ please see their website for more information http://home.catholicweb.com/dosp_ocsc/. If you are eligible you will need to provide the diocese with your factstuitionaid.com application and required documentation (2011 or 2012 Income Tax Return and 2011 or 2012 W2 forms). The application and documentation are due to them by March 1, 2013.

Basic income levels for eligibility for Diocesan assistance

Household size as listed on 2010 Tax form (Gross Income)
1 ($38,340)
2 ($44,340)
3 ($50,340)
4 ($56,340)
5 ($60,340)
Each additional Dependent Add $6000

Step 4: Determine your eligibility for Step Up For Students –this is open to children in Pre‐K and K, or children who have been in a public school for an entire year prior to enrolling at Our Lady of Lourdes. For more information see their website at http://www.stepupforstudents.org. If your child currently receives this scholarship you will need to reapply. Applications will become available on their website in mid‐March.

Notification to the parents of financial assistance will be made by July 1, 2013

Any family who receives tuition assistance will be asked to sign a covenant with the school. This covenant will be distributed in mid‐July.
