Godspell Jr!

On Friday evening at 7:00 on the dot, the lights went dim in the Conmy Center.  Spotlights burst onto the stage revealing a colorful set straight out of the hippie era, and as the eyes of the audience adjusted to the dazzling scenery, dozens of OLL students flowed from behind, in front of, and around the stage sporting elated grins and spirited voices.  After months of preparation, Godspell Jr. had begun! Godspell Jr. is a child-friendly rendition of the Broadway classic, sharing many of the scenes and songs from the adult show but making the content accessible for family audiences.  More...

Cyber Safety

Early Monday morning, the sixth grade class at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School filed into the Conmy Center for a special presentation.  Moments later, Attorney General Pam Bondi greeted the group along with President of AT&T Florida, Marshall Criser III.  ”Since you all are in sixth grade, and have access to a world of content on your iPads, I have a little pop-quiz for you,” teased the Attorney General.  ”What is the state bird of Florida?”  The students were immediately relieved of any nerves and shouted popcorn style answers to a series of questions about Florida trivia. The real More...

Loads of Lunches

Last week, we reached that day in February that comes every four years – Leap Day.  While we are grateful for each and every day that God gives us, we at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School were particularly grateful for this extra day of life in 2012 and wanted to celebrate in a special way: with service to the to those in need in our greater Pinellas County community. The festivities actually started more than a week before Leap Day, when students and teachers began their discussions about the parables and Catholic Social Teaching.  Through the parables, Christ tell More...

LegoLand

Early Monday morning, over 200 students, parents, faculty, and staff from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School boarded buses and set off on the adventure of a lifetime: a school-wide field trip to LegoLand!  The event marked the first Jubilee Trip of our 50th Anniversary celebration. After a long bus journey along I-4, students filed off the buses and through the gates of LegoLand, most first time visitors to Florida’s newest theme park.  Students split up into groups of three or four, accompanied by some of the many generous community members who volunteered to chaperone this trip.  It truly was More...

Jubilee Pep Rally

Last week, following a vibrant Jubilee liturgy, the students of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School marched over to the Conmy Center for our first official student led Jubilee event.  Giggles and squeals echoed through the gym while 207 students made their way up the bleachers and into their seats for the first Golden Jubilee Pep Rally. Mrs. Bogataj and Ms. Schaibly served as the emcees for the event, leading spirited chants in support of fifty years of OLL Romans history.  The room buzzed with anticipation and enthusiasm as students, faculty, and parents shouted and cheered in honor of our More...

Happy Birthday, OLL!

Happy Birthday, Our Lady of Lourdes! For fifty years, Our Lady of Lourdes School has served as the premier provider of Catholic education in northern Pinellas County.  While our campus and classrooms have changed greatly since 1962, our mission and purpose have remained the same. Teaching as Christ did, we are the living example of the Parable of the Lost Sheep.  We exist to educate every child individually and empower him or her with the knowledge and faith to go out and be Christ’s hands and feet in our world. As we celebrate the blessing of our Golden Jubilee, we More...

Our EC4 and Kindergarten participated in their annual parade through the school, stopping in the office and every classroom to trick-or-treat for goodies!  From bats to cats to sweet little goldfish, these little ones put smiles on the faces of all of our older students who reminisced about when they marched in their own parade. In EC4, students More...
