Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day is a staple of OLL Catholic Schools Week Events.  For years, grandparents have enjoyed spending the day with their loved ones at Our Lady of Lourdes, beginning with our School-led Mass, followed by breakfast, a reception in the Conmy Center, and finally a tour of the school and fun games in the classrooms.  We are so thankful for all of the Grandparents who joined us for this special occasion!  For those who would like to but have not yet had a chance to donate to our Annual Fund, you may do so right here on our website.

This year at Grandparents Day, fifth grade students Jessie Marsh and Terri Moran shared their thoughts on what it means to be a Roman.

Jessie: Good Morning!   Welcome to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and Happy Grandparents Day! My name is Jessie Marsh and I am a fifth grade student here at OLL.

Terri: My name is Terri Moran and I am also a fifth grade student at OLL.  Today we would like to share with you a little bit about our experience at this school that we love so much.

Jessie: This is my first year here at OLL so I have only been a student here for six months.  Going to school at OLL has been the best experience of my life.  We enjoy every day here because we are a community and that means no one gets left out.  The students and teachers are always willing to help each other.  We all do our best every day.  I love this school and every day I am thankful that I am a student at OLL.

Terri: I have gone to school here since preschool, so is my seventh year at Our Lady of Lourdes!  My big sisters both went to school here, too, so OLL is a big part of our family.  We think it is a great school because our teachers are so kind.  I especially love being able to interact with the other students since I have known a lot of them for my whole life.

Jessie: We want to tell you about our awesome teacher, Mrs. Casalino.  We think she is the best!  She is a great person and a great teacher.  She is very patient and explains things until everyone understands.

Terri: All of our teachers at OLL are wonderful and they teach us so well.  They prepare us to be good students and great Catholics.  I know I can always go to my teachers if I need help because they always show us respect.  They never look away when we are talking to them and show us courtesy, which I learned to do now, too.

Jessie: I think our school is an advanced school because we help every student to understand everything we learn.  Our teachers don’t leave kids behind if they don’t understand something.  They really want to help us learn.  I feel like I learn more at OLL than I would at any other school.

Terri: We also get to play sports here at OLL.  It is an honor to play sports for my school because we get to represent everything that OLL stands for.  Our sports teams are great because, even if we lose, we always have good spirits!  Our coaches are always proud of us which makes us feel great.

Jessie: We are so thankful that you came to join us today!  Thank you for the love that you show your grandchildren and the support that you show OLL.

Terri: Every day, we pray for you, our family and friends.  May God bless you and watch over you always.  We hope to see you again soon.
