Lifelong Learners

As educators in the Catholic school system, we pride ourselves on promoting “life-long learning” in our classroom and our community.  Students at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School are brought up with the knowledge that learning does not stop when the bell rings, nor does it stop when one receives a diploma.  Learning is among the greatest gifts we receive, as it enables us to develop a greater understanding of the world around us, as well as the One who created the world.  This year, our Sixth Grade students see the fruits of lifelong learning firsthand as part of an More...

Election Day!

“A Vote for Max is a Vote for Fun” The tone grew quiet in the cafeteria as the candidates stepped forward to the podium.  Ms. Schaibly called them by name, introducing each candidate, their grade level, and the office for which they were running.  The student body listened attentively as one by one the candidates stepped to the microphone to pitch their campaign in two minutes or less. All week, the halls of the North Building have dawned colorful signs with student names and campaign slogans.  The catchy posters gained candidates visibility and attention as they gathered their platforms, polled More...

Welcome Back!

The cafeteria buzzed with excitement early Monday morning as students stepped onto campus for the first day of a brand new school year.  With new backpacks and new shoes, students filed through the school doors to meet old friends and find many new faces, 59 new faces to be exact.  There were a few butterflies but they were hidden behind wide eyes and even wider smiles. “Good Morning, Romans!” cried Mr. Fulford over the PA system, to which the students responded with applause.  We began our first school year as we begin all things, in prayer, thanking God for the More...

Bully Free Zone!

A Bully-Free School   Charlie Brown had Lucy, Marty McFly had Biff Tannen, even Kelly Clarkson had Simon Cowell.  Unfortunately, bullying is something that has been and continues to be prevalent in our society.  Quite often, school-aged children are the silent victims of bullying, unsure of how to react and who to tell. Recently, the faculty and staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School launched an anti-bullying initiative to ensure that no child is the victim of such unfair treatment.  The program carries to various aspects of school learning, including theatre, religion, guidance, and humanities. Taking a Stand on More...

Happy Birthday, OLL!

Happy Birthday, Our Lady of Lourdes! For fifty years, Our Lady of Lourdes School has served as the premier provider of Catholic education in northern Pinellas County.  While our campus and classrooms have changed greatly since 1962, our mission and purpose have remained the same. Teaching as Christ did, we are the living example of the Parable of the Lost Sheep.  We exist to educate every child individually and empower him or her with the knowledge and faith to go out and be Christ’s hands and feet in our world. As we celebrate the blessing of our Golden Jubilee, we More...

Tithing and Tuition

Tithing and Tuition Parents make incredible sacrifices to send their children to Catholic Schools.  Knowing the importance of bringing children up in a faith-based learning community that challenges them academically, nourishes them spiritually, and develops them emotionally, parents budget and cut costs to be able to afford the cost of tuition. We as a school are aware of the economic crisis our nation currently faces, as well as the ever increasing cost of living.  We do our best each year to keep tuition as low as possible in order to provide affordable education the most students possible.  In order to More...
