Father Gary Dowsey, Pastor
Father Gary Dowsey was born in London, England. He was ordained to the priesthood on July 12, 1980 at St. Mary’s Church, Great Yarmouth, situated on the east coast of England. During his time as a priest, he has served as the private secretary to the Bishop of East Anglia, the Diocesan Communications Officer, and the Chaplain to the University of East Anglia. Father Gary has much experience in educational ministry, having worked as a chaplain on both the high school and college level.
In 2000, Father Gary’s vocation brought him to the Diocese of St. Petersburg. He served nearly three years at St. James in New Port Richey, one year at Nativity in Brandon, and two years at St. Jerome in Indian Rocks. In 2007, he was granted incardination to the Diocese of St Petersburg and was appointed Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in July of 2007.
Dr. Anne Penny, Principal
Anne Penny, Ph. D., has spent her career teaching children, developing teachers and initiating educational programs. Dr. Penny received three graduate degrees comprised of both Catholic School Leadership and Music Education. In addition, she holds two Bachelor Degrees, one of which is in Education.
Dr. Penny has teaching experience at all grade levels and has taught in schools in Saskatchewan, Mississippi, Georgia and Manitoba. She has several years of experience in professorial positions with post-secondary institutions, including those in Mississippi, North Carolina and North Dakota.
Dedicated to staying current with trends and challenges in Catholic education in the contemporary world, Dr. Penny participates in many Catholic educational forums. These involve NCEA Conferences, including the session in Houston where she was a presenter. She was a delegate for the “Educating Today and Tomorrow” Congress held in Rome in November 2015 at which participants discussed the challenges facing Catholic schools throughout the world and shared this with Pope Francis.
After years of experience guided by research, Dr. Penny believes in the value of music in developing the whole child. To this end, she has founded several string programs including the one at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.
Born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba, Dr. Penny comes from a large Catholic family. She is strengthened and supported by her husband and family who share her love of the Church and belief in Catholic education.
